S There Any More Help for Gambling Addiction Besides Meetings?
Question by jerry s.: s there any more help for gambling addiction besides meetings?
I hate the meeting I rather just gamble then sit around and listen to people that I do not know talk about problems that I sort of understand. The meetings are not for everybody, there must be something more for people that do not like the meetings. It seems to me that they try to get you addicted to the meetings I mean you can go to them like 7 days a week and go like twice a day if you wanted to I do not want to make the meetings my life. If you quit gambling you should fulfill other things you wanted to do before you were gambling.

If you gambled every day you should go to a meeting every day.
The idea is not to get addicted to meetings but to take a little action every day to break the obsessive compulsive addiction to pathological gambling that is destroying your life.
. Meetings also work toward healthy management of impulse control disorder, temptation and relapses. They provide fellowship, support and a place for gamblers to meet.
Besides GA, there is: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), counseling, self-help workbooks, on-line peer support, the SSRI paroxetine, Lithium SR, and the drug nalmefene; or a combination of these.
